Well today I ran my first ever 5K! I'm still not quite sure how I ended up running since 3 days ago I didn't even know about the event... But I'm pretty sure it went something like this:
Holly Monson, (our YW President), said to me at mutual on Wednesday,
Holly: "Dana, do you run?"
Dana: "Only if someone's chasing me."
Holly: "Well there's a 5k on Saturday for cancer and they throw colors at you."
Dana: "Um... Ok, sure!"
I need to work on resisting peer pressure. But actually I'm really glad that I did it. I didn't train for it at all, and now I kind of want to actually train for one and see how I improve. But we'll see if that happens.
This is my friend, Kristina, who actually IS a runner. So she was very excited when I told her about the Color Run. This is our before picture. I'm so glad that all these great ladies were there, it was motivating knowing that I wasn't in this alone!
As we ran the race, there were "color stations," where volunteers threw colored chalk at the runners. Each color represented a certain type of cancer.
This is our after picture! Wendy, Holly, Kristina, and me. Wendy kicked all of our butts, followed by Kristina, Holly, and myself. I think they were all pretty happy that they can still kick a 24 year-old's butt!
So after all that chalk, our shirts still look pretty white! But this is a picture after a vinegar bath, the colors pop out lots more.
And in other exciting news, our good friends Collin and Aimee had a new baby this week! We were excited to go visit them at the hospital and welcome their 3rd child, a beautiful baby girl! They actually didn't find out the gender beforehand, so they were surprised as well.
You can see that little Brynlee Belle Perschon definitely has her dad's dark hair, we'll see if it turns blonde like her mom & older brother and sister.
Loving every minute of it. Aaron had to pull me out of there before I wanted one of our own!
