What does October mean? To Dana it means fall weather, pretty trees, pumpkins, and hot chocolate! To Aaron, it means hunting season! So he put all his comp. time to good use and took a whole week to go hunting with his dad in Southern Idaho. Here the boys are looking studly as ever in their hunter orange.
And don't forget these boys, they got to go too!
Goldie, Scooter, & Pepper
Packin' up & Packin' in
They stayed in a tent for the first few nights, then later in the week headed back out to the camper where they could stay warm. They hunted for the 1st 4 days and did see a few elkies, but none that came in close enough without getting a whiff of their no-shower-for-three-days smell. That would have made me run for the hills too!
But day 5 at around 9AM Aaron bugled and got a response. This big guy was hot on the trail of two lady elkies and so he moved right in, following Aaron's bugles. Cary shot him from just about 50 yards away, and he didn't have a prayer!
He was a 6-point beauty!
And guess where they ran into him? Right near where we had hunted and left our mark the previous year. The A loves D mark was still there!
In Spain they eat something called Pata Negra, "Black Foot." It's dried & smoked ham, still on the bone, and most Spaniards have one of these sitting on their counter. They cut a slice & eat with breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Remind you of anything?
