So I've been asking & begging & pleading Aaron to let me put up some curtains in our little living room. After 2 years it finally paid off and he caved in - hooray! He kept saying, we're not living here forever, we'll be moving soon. Soon in Aaron's mind is in 3 more years. Not soon enough for this girl, I was tired of waiting!
STEP 1: Call Kayde. She'll tell you its a great idea to paint curtains, no matter what your husband or the paint guy at Home Depot says.
STEP 2: Get Kayde to come visit so she'll help you do all the tedious taping that has to happen before the fun painting can begin! (Notice the lime green outline on the curtains in the next photo - that's my painter's tape)
STEP 3: Paint... and paint and paint. Each set of curtains took me at least 3 days since I was just doing the project in the evenings after work. I also had to do 2 coats since after 1 coat I could see little gaps in my paint since my curtains had a weave pattern on them.
STEP 4: Repeat step 3 for each set of curtains - I did 3 sets for the 3 windows in our living room / dining room
STEP 5: Get your incredibly handy husband to hang up your curtain rods. No matter how much he complains, just remember he's glad for an excuse to use that new Dewalt drill he got for his birthday!
STEP 6: Hang up your curtains and stare at them for the next 3 days. I just love them! I still catch myself admiring how nice they look. I'm glad I chose the navy blue (I debated doing a lighter green). I'm loving the nautical feel it gives!
STEP 7: tell your husband that since you spent lots of money on your curtains, he can spend lots of money on a new TV... and a new TV stand... and a new BLU Ray player. Apparently you can't get one without the other two. Thanks Ali & Brett for helping us find a good price at Sears! (We went with the Samsung 46" not smart (dumb?) tv and opted to get the Samsung brand Blu ray player that has all the same smart capabilities).
Just ignore my sewing machine & stacks of fabric & crafts in the corner. No matter how much storage space I buy for it, my craft supplies keep seeping out further and further into the room! Also -- do me a favor and ignore the wood panneling. I try really hard to :)
