camping!

This weekend we went camping at Loon Lake near McCall with a close friend of mine and her husband who are from Boise.  The day we got there we took a long... (longer than expected) hike from our campsite to the North shore of the lake where a WWII bomber crash landed and is still there on the shore.  We anticipated a 4 mile hike.  Which turned out to actually be 6, so after a TWELVE mile hike roundtrip, we were both pretty exhausted.  But it was fun to try out all our new camping gear that we got for the wedding!

Aaron was loving this river just a few feet from our campsite.  It was clear enough to see the salmon swimming along!

Dipping my feet in the river before we started hiking back to camp..... Unfortunately I left Aaron with the camera and he caught me getting attacked by a bee.  Needless to say he had a good laugh about that one!

The next morning we went to a natural hotsprings to soothe our aching muscles.  This is the history of the springs:  Frederick Burgdorf, a sailor/dairyman, read the story of the rich gold fields in Warren, Idaho. Upon discovering a hot spring near there, he built a pool with hotels, cabins and barns.
That was in 1870! All the original cabins are still standing, and not too many changes have been done to the place so it was interesting to visit.  We thought the "Bathtub Waterfall" was a nice touch.  Ha!

So that was our exciting weekend.  Now we're worn out but glad to be back home!  The only other exciting new news in our life is our new calling in our ward.  We're Sunbeam teachers!  We have a class of around 12 kiddos so that's been a fun new challenge.  We've figured out that as long as we keep the lesson short and have enough activities, they stay entertained.

We love you all and hope to hear about what you've been up to lately.
