This year all our 14 & older young men and young women went on a Trek to Martin's Cove, Wyoming, which was in place of our girls camp this year. So our awesome stake leaders decided to have a Beehive Camp for our 12-13 year olds who didn't get to go on Trek. We went to Camp Wooten, located near Pomeroy, WA (about 2 hours-ish from Genesee). Our theme was WAY TO BE! Using President Hinckley's Be's - Our ward was BE GRATEFUL GOLD.
This was our "Bee on a Stick" with all our Be's attached:
Day 1 was mostly setting up and getting organized. Day 2 we did certifications in the morning - I went on the 1st year's hike. This is Erin digging into her gushers not even 5 minutes into the hike. She just couldn't wait any longer!
We had four 1st years and two 2nd years. These are the 1st years at the end of our hike:
For our knots certification we learned how to tie para cord bracelets. I love mine!
Making cupcakes. Here's how it went down:
Dana: "Okay girls, smile!"
Beehives: "We always smile..."
Dana: "Then look angry, like those are terrible cupcakes."
And this is the picture I got...
In the afternoons, we had free time HOORAY! We could choose from floating the little river next to camp, swimming in the pool, or just hanging out and playing games. Our girls loved the river:
Pool Party:
Our skit - they were in an airplane
At 6 AM on Day 3 we woke up for the Polar Plunge! We headed back down to the river where we were all dipped in the icy cold water! I was proud of all my girls for getting out of bed for the adventure!
I got down to the river just after Erin got dipped, so she volunteered to go again so I could get a picture of her -- She's either crazy or very brave!

yes. it was cold.
Roll Call: What do you find at the end of a rainbow? GOLD! (our color for camp)
What's camp without a good game of big booty?
2nd year certifications: CPR
Kate was just loving this part!
Quite time for scripture reading & journal writing
More river time! On Day 3 our ward leaders had river duty - not that we minded! We got our shaved ice and headed down to the river, it was great! We stood at the bottom where the girls were supposed to get out to make sure they didn't go down too far.
Me, Sister Walker, and a leader from another ward:
it usually ended up like this:
Why is camp so fun?
-- You get to sing silly camp songs--
--Impromptu dance parties are always a possibility--
--You get to meet your long lost twin from another town--
--More fun camp songs--
--Ward Shout-outs!--
This was on our way to testimony meeting on our last day. We made some cute gold glitter lanterns from mason jars. They carried them to testimony meeting, but they looked even cooler when it got dark!
After testimony meeting, and ward testimony meeting in our cabin, we had mini s'mores, since we weren't allowed to have camp fires this time of year. We roasted mini-mallows over a candle and put them on teddy grahams with m&m's. It was a pretty good substitute!
--Packing up to go home--
6 girls + 2 leaders + 1 ycl = a very dirty cabin :)
And don't forget Lindsey, our awesome take YCL from our ward, and her mom, our amazing camp nurse!
And Beckah and Dalin even got to come up and spend a day with us!
---
Thanks for a great time at camp girls - I hope you had as much fun & strengthened your testimony as much as I did!
